 Chiropractic Care

If you’ve never visited a chiropractor before, you might find yourself Googling “chiropractor near me in Anchorage” to try to learn more about chiropractic care. However, you might come across certain myths prevalent online about the safety and efficacy of the chiropractic care model. Here’s a look at the top five myths about chiropractic care, and how we’ve debunked them.

Myth 1: Chiropractic Care is More Expensive

Most elements of chiropractic care are covered by insurance, and chiropractic treatments are less expensive than surgery, prescription medications, and ongoing visits to a doctor or specialist.

Myth 2: Chiropractic Therapies Aren’t Effective

Research has shown that chiropractic care is actually more effective than many other treatment models for chronic pain, loss of mobility or range of motion, and symptoms of illness or disease. Because chiropractic care is non-invasive and doesn’t rely on the use of prescription drugs, the treatment models are actually lifelong and adaptable based on the patients’ changing needs and progress.

Myth 3: A Chiropractor Isn’t a Real Doctor

Chiropractors must earn a Doctor of Chiropractic before practicing. This means that they have completed four years of undergraduate study and five to seven years of study at a specialized chiropractic college. They then need to complete a clinical internship, pass all four parts of the exam administered by the National Board of Chiropractic Examiners, and apply for a license from their state licensing board.

Myth 4: Chiropractic Care Isn’t Safe

Scientific studies, research, and statistics show that chiropractic care is one of the safest treatment methods available for most injuries, illnesses, and conditions. Chiropractic therapies are actually much safer than prescription medications, surgeries, and invasive procedures.

Myth 5: Chiropractic Care is Rigid

Chiropractic care is actually extremely flexible and customizable. Our chiropractor will work closely with you throughout every step of designing, implementing, and adjusting your chiropractic care treatment plan to ensure it continues to meet your needs. Our chiropractor will focus on your individual symptoms, diagnoses, needs, goals, and lifestyle to create an evolving treatment model that works for you.
